On your Mark . . . Get Set . . . Go!

Welcome to the official page of the Flyers Reading Marathon!  We are excited that you have joined the race! Here is some basic information about the Marathon:

Step 1: Choose your race & get the Google Classroom code from your PAC teacher or the librarians.
Step 2: Go to classroom.google.com and enter the code to join the class for your chosen race.
Step 3: Use the doc in the Google Classroom to keep track of what you read
Step 4: Read, Read, Read!
Step 5: Visit the library to get a raffle ticket towards prizes as you finish each book.
Step 6: In April, use the form in the Google Classroom to enter all the books you read.
Step 7: Attend the Finish Line celebration!

Who?  All LHS Flyers are welcome to participate.

What?
Over the course of 26 weeks, participants will choose a race and read the corresponding amount of books:

Books that are eligible:
  • Fiction or Nonfiction books
  • eBooks & Audiobooks
  • Full books read for class
  • Full books read for fun

Books that are NOT eligible:
  • Children's Books
  • Manga
  • Textbooks and Magazines
  • Use common sense!  If it doesn't seem like it should count, then it probably shouldn't.

When? The race will begin on Wednesday, October 21st and will conclude 26 weeks later on Wednesday, April 20th, following National Library Week.  There will be a mid-race rally on January 20th with snacks and drinks.  On April 20th, join us at the finish line for a post-race rally which will include food, beverages, and awesome raffle prizes.  All who have recorded their books on the Google form and submitted their raffle tickets by Monday, April 18th are eligible to win prizes.

Where?  Get your books at the race headquarters (library!).  You can also get marathon reading selections at your public libraries, book stores, and anywhere you like to find a good book.  Don't forget that we have a great selection of fiction titles through Overdrive, the free app for downloading eBooks!

Why?  To celebrate Teen Read Week, National Library Week and encourage reading for enjoyment!

Get ready to go the distance!
